1. Miradouro de Santa Luzia
The Miradouro de Santa Luzia, or Santa Luzia viewpoint, is one of the most beautiful viewpoints in all of Lisbon. With its stunning views over the Alfama district and lovely azulejo tiled benches, it's no wonder why.

From the landscaped two-level terrace, you have a perfect view of the maze of narrow streets, colorful homes and beautiful churches of the Alfama neighborhood.

The intimate and cozy atmosphere that emanates from the lookout’s lower level is enhanced by the Church of Santa Luzia, covered with beautiful pink bougainvillea, located next to the terrace. Street performers often enrich the neighborhood by creating a lively atmosphere enjoyed by all visitors, while artists frequent the neighborhood to sell handicrafts.
Sitting here, enjoying the view and listening to the iconic tram rumble by, you can really soak up the flair of Lisbon's historic heart. If you are lucky, you can even hear the sounds of fado echoing in the distance.

Take a look at the southern exterior wall of the adjacent church of Santa Luzia, founded by the Knights of Malta. There you will see two murals made of azulejos tiles. One shows Praça do Comércio and the old royal palace before the great earthquake of 1755, the other the attack of the Crusaders on São Jorge Castle in the 12th century.

How to Get to Santa Luzia & Portas do Sol Viewpoints?
The two viewpoints are located just a few meters apart in the Alfama district, a short distance from São Jorge Castle.
The best way to reach them is to walk up from the Baixa neighborhood, which allows you to discover the charm of the historic neighborhood.
If you prefer to go by Lisbon's public transportation, take the Bus 737 that stops at the corner of Miradouro de Santa Luzia, or the tram (12 or 28 to Lg. Portas Sol stop).
